Q: Can A Person Be Saved Like The Thief On The Cross Today?

Luke 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

A: It seems that every time we teach on the essential element of baptism is the biblical plan of salvation someone will say, "Well, what about the thief on the cross? He wasn't baptized!" Norm deals with this sore misuse of the beautiful account of the thief's confession of faith and gives the biblical perspective on Luke 23:42-43.

    Baptism is baptism into Christ's death Christ was not yet deceased, therefore Christ simply had the authorty prior to his death to orally forgive sins. Forgiveness is now recieved threw the covenant agreement of baptism, the covenant handshake so to speak between God and man.
